Spécialiste dans l'étude du cycle du carbone des lacs et de l'eutrophisation de ces derniers, Yves Prairie enseigne au Département de biologie de l'UQÀM. En plus d'être membre fondateur du Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en limnologie et en environnement aquatique (GRIL), il est également titulaire de la Chaire UNESCO en Changements Environnementaux à l'Échelle du Globe.
