My interests are focused on carbon cycling at the land-water-air interfaces. Terrestrial carbon is transformed in aquatic systems to be further sequestered in sediments or exported to the ocean or to the atmosphere. Knowledge about this carbon processing is crucial to include freshwater systems into global and regional C budgets. My scientific interests are mainly:
- gas exchange with the atmosphere and the methodology that is related
- lakes CO2 temporal dynamics
- aquatic DOC transformation by photo-chemical and biological degradation
- benthic respiration and fluxes
- direct CO2 imports form rivers and groundwater
