Ph.D. 2013 Iowa State University, Major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Minor in Statistics, dissertation title: "Anthropogenic eutrophication and ecosystem functioning in lakes"
Carbon biogeochemistry in freshwater lakes
I am looking at differences in carbon burial and storage across regions and trophic states
Use of paleolimnological methods to reconstruct impacts of eutrophication on aquatic systems
I am assessing how changing land use practices influence the rate of eutrophication and their combined effect on ecosystem function (i.e., nutrient cycling, energy transfer, community structure)
Effects of biodiversity and evenness on ecosystem functioning between trophic levels in pelagic plankton communities
I am researching the mechanisms behind the reduction in efficiency of energy transfer between primary producers and herbivores in pelagic systems undergoing eutrophication and how resource use efficiency (RUE) relates to biodiversity and evenness between trophic levels.
Use of multivariate statistics to analyze environmental and ecological data
I use multivariate statistical techniques to visualize and disentangle relationships between complex ecological data and environmental gradients
