Biographie

I am an aquatic biogeochemist with the main interest in freshwater systems, primarily streams and rivers, but also floodplains, ponds, and lakes.

In past and current research projects, my focus covered (i) the water-air interface, measuring CO2/CH4 fluxes, (ii) the water column, e.g. investigating DOM quality as a potential driver of CO2 production, and (iii) the sediments, e.g. identifying large-scale drivers of sediment CH4 production/oxidation.

I believe that local and small-scale studies are relevant for understanding main processes and drivers but it is equally important to use this knowledge to understand large-scale dynamics by performing projects at the landscape scale.
